There is an opinion that electricity and heat pumps are the best way to go.  That is correct within certain temperature ranges, but is also limited by the actual source of the electricity.  When you are not blessed with hydro, PV or wind energy in abundance, then you are relying on coal and natural gas for your electrical generation.  These represent two thirds of the fuel for the electrical grid in North America.  The efficiency of the electrical generation goes from a low of 40% to a high of 62% with a combined cycle gas plant.  Not exactly stellar when compared to the efficiency of the HE 22.
